    Hatch is a multi-discipline services firm of 9,000 staff worldwide that delivers a comprehensive array of technical and strategic services, including Consulting, Information Technology, Engineering, Process Development, and Project and Construction Management to the Energy, Mining, Metallurgical, and Infrastructure sectors. Hatch has been active in the nuclear industry since the early 1970s. Projects include engineering and project management for all four Bruce Power ‘A’ Unit Restarts; engineering for recent projects supporting the Darlington Refurbishment Project; operations support engineering at Pickering NPP; and projects supporting the Bruce Power life-extension program.

    Hatch identifies training, mentorship and capacity building programs directly with communities and educational institutions that might be of interest. For example, The Youth Indigenous Participation Program (YIPP) provides Indigenous youth exposure to engineering and environmental consulting by working alongside Hatch environmental scientists for a short-term assignment. The most recent program participant was a member of the Cree Nation of Mistissini from Lac Moblan, Quebec. She job-shadowed the Hatch environmental team in the Montreal office for two weeks, learning about Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and environmental consulting.     Hatch provides four scholarships every year with an offer of summer employment to Indigenous engineering recipients of Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures program. The scholarship recipients are chosen based on their grades, interest in STEM and contribution to their communities.     Thank you for your interest in Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and positions at the Western Waste Management Facility at the Bruce Site.

    In the everyday operation of Ontario’s nuclear generating stations, byproducts are created that must be managed and stored safely. OPG’s Nuclear Waste Management division manages three sites. The Western Waste Management Facility (view brochure) in Bruce County receives and manages the low- and intermediate-level waste for Darlington, Pickering and Bruce Power nuclear stations.

    The Indigenous Student Centre at Lambton College is a designated space for Indigenous students. The Centre provides a friendly, supportive environment where the staff is devoted to helping Indigenous students achieve their goals. The Centre offers a large, bright space with a vibrant atmosphere. It is equipped with kitchen facilities, study area, computer area, and a lounge area. Students have access to academic advising, traditional elders, visiting speakers, tutoring program, academic & cultural workshops, laptop and iPad loan program. Indigenous students can access this comfortable space where they can meet other Indigenous students, study or simply relax in a home away from home environment.
